Read this first
Don’t feel like you are the only one who has a problem. There is all kinds of information out there, but if you are like me and started searching for answers in books and on the internet, you started to feel confused. It all seems very complex. I thought I would never understand what I needed to do, but I finally got my answers.
First Big Tip: the big challenge
One of the biggest challenges for golfers is consistency. Regardless of how many books they read or lessons they take, they may get the basics down, but most never seem to find that place where everything works all the time. If you want to play a great game, you have to be consistent. You have to be consistent in the right way. I can promise you there is a way to become consistent because I found it. Read on.
Most people miss this important key. Self assessment is crucial to progressing in your game. Most golfers go out on the course day after day and keep trying to do what they think is going to get them the scores they want. No matter how hard they try, they keep making the same mistakes. Taking the time to look at what you are doing, how you are doing it, and why it isn’t working can make a huge difference in your game.
You need a tool that will help you
Where are you having the problems? Is it in your driving, in your putting, your stance or how you hold your club? Most players go home and never take time to really assess what they are doing right or wrong. You need to assess your game to change your game. I poured over my game again and again knowing I needed to look at what I was doing, but I didn’t know how to assess myself. Finally I found the right approach.
Don’t over think it
Now this may seem a contradiction to what I just said, but it isn’t. You are probably thinking too hard about what you are doing. Over thinking your swing takes your focus off the target. Your mind needs to be focused and the play needs to come naturally if you want consistent results. Once you know what to correct and how to approach the ball you will not have to be thinking about your swing. Like me, once you are able to focus, you will be congratulating yourself on your results.
Keep it simple
Next, you need to keep it simple. If you are regularly racking your brain with all the complications of a golf swing that most books try to teach you, you will continue to be frustrated. I know I was. You should be able to break your golf swing down into simple, repeatable steps for a consistent game every time. You want to to be able to hit your ball where you aim it, period. I am happy to say I can keep my swing the same every time now, and get the results I want and you can too. Start breaking down your swing.
Get it right every time
Your club has to remain square to the ball when you hit it. That is the only way it will go where you want it to go. It is also the only way you will ever be able to have a consistent result. To achieve this, your aim, your grip and your swing all have to work together and you have to stay focused. Once you can do this, you will be able to repeat it with great results over and over. In a short time, just like me, you will be doing this so naturally you will wonder why you ever got frustrated.
